Class Description:
- In the Sherwood Elementary Smart Lab students will have the opportunity to used advanced software and materials that highlight the skills needed to be a successful 21st Century learner. An important objective in the Smart Lab is that learning is student centered, thus allowing students to take ownership of their learning. In this class students will have the ability to collaborate with others, problem solve, think critically, develop their creativity, and enhance communication skills. During their time and based on appropriate level of learning students learn project and time management skills that will assist them in becoming college and career ready. We want each student to come to class excited and willing to learn these skills. Are you up for the challenge??
Class Schedule:
- Students will come as a class to the Smart Lab for 5 consecutive days.
- Each class period will last 30 minutes.
- Because of brief class time, it is very important that all students arrive on time and ready to work.

Code.org: Students can use this website to learn the basics of coding and create their own video games.
Ask Dr. Universe: Allows students to discover different STEM topics and find answers to common, everyday questions.
Science Buddies: Allows students to get science project ideas and info from profiles on STEM Careers.
STEM-Works: Website is filled with STEM articles, information, and lots of cool STEM activities.
Tynker- Coding for Kids: Allows students to learn about coding through going through courses and developing their programming skills.
STEM Teacher - Mrs. Rasmusson

Mrs. Logan Rasmusson is the STEM teacher at Sherwood Elementary school. She has taught at Sherwood for 3 years. She taught 2nd grade for 2 years and is now our STEM teacher. She received her Bachelors Degree from Troy University in 2016. She is excited about teaching all students of all ages here at Sherwood Elementary School how to be lifelong learners and develop skills that will benefit them in future jobs.
